When you click on a one of the establishments on the default page you’ll be sent to a page with a picture of the bar in question, the address of the bar, a link to a map (to get you there) and, of course, our comments about the place. If you know what part of the city or surrounding county you'll be visiting, feel free to use the Interactive Map to see a list of bars in your area. 

Sure you’re probably asking yourself, who or what is this Phillytown.com? Well, to be honest, we're all in the witness relocation program and since the government realized that we really had no other talent than to drink and be merry, the rest is history.  Unless otherwise noted, reviews are performed by a professional pub crawler who goes by the name of The Dog, which explains why most reviews are written from the first person perspective. 

Dedication, we're oozing with dedication, over here! All members of the staff firmly believe that this is America and we've got a God given right to life, liberty and the pursuit of the perfect pint with great atmosphere. Sure, some may call us good-for-nothing dreamers (well that's what our parents call us) for having such grandiose expectations, but it keeps us going.    

We challenge you to find anything on the web about the local Philly Bar scene that goes beyond the surface of the tourist traps or that actually refuses to take money from the very places they review - talk about a conflict of interest!  These websites take no time to take photos of the establishments and rely on anonymous visitors to post reviews of the places (probably the owner or barkeep promoting the bar). We believe this isn't the way to produce an unbiased entertainment website. 

People visit us to go to cool places - we're not afraid to tell you the good, the bad and the ugly and we're NOT on the "take." 

Ergo.... With pint in hand and an endless resolve, we intend to fill the void with this site. Hopefully this site will one day do for the Philly Bar scene what David Hasselhoff has done for California Lifeguards. Sure, embarrassment comes to mind, but you get the picture.
