Bar Noir carries with it a sultry ambiance that hints at possibilities. The crowd is chill and smartly dressed, hip hugging jeans prance by non-committingly, Elvis adorned walls add comfort and vibe to the relaxed room. While they do not offer beers on tap, Bar Noir certainly offers one of the Best Happy Hours in Rittenhouse and a sleu of DJ's that understand how to please a crowd! The clientele ranges in age, yet share a common denominator--sexyness. Rarely have I seen anyone who could not be classified as "one of the beautiful people", conversely, the idea of pretention that generally accompanies this type is all but non-existent. The atmosphere is welcoming and a bit devilish; one immediately has to supress the urge to do something really daring. Fortunately, the bartenders encourage complete abandon and utter debauchery. It is Bar Noir after all-anything goes.

As a DRINKING establishment (particularly-beer), Bar Noir does not rate well. But...who says that's all it has to be ?? As an ol' 80's Alterna-lover (REVIVAL), I love hanging at the bar & hearing DJ Bobby Startup play some of the "classics". If you get there early enough to get a seat at the bar...just sit back n' enjoy the show. If you get there after it's filled up...get set to be quite annoyed. All in all..one of the city's more lively spots.

May I suggest that your reviewing staff go back with a slightly different perspective? If you guys are seriously only going to consider a bar cool based on its draft beers you maybe shouldn't be reviewing bars. Bar Noir gets really crowded and that can be annoying. But I've never been in a place that crowds that many people from that many various walks of life into one place and had EVERY body being nice to each other. I've walked in there on Friday's or Monday's and you can easily start up a conversation with the most gorgeous, unpretentious crowd I've ever met in one place.

This place rocks. I consider myself quite the bar chick and I just love it. The people are there to have a great time, the bartenders are the coolest, and the DJ kicks ass. The catch-too many people, so they are going to have to be more selective with their clientele. The young, hip and beautiful should be first to get in. Sorry old folks, this place is only for the sexy people.

This place is nice to go to after work to unwind--before it gets too crowded. The food is affordable and they have the best chicken salad sandwich in all of Philly. I have not been there after 6:30, so I don't know how their DJ's are. Despite this site's review--I think this is more of an all ages type place, not just frequented by college age kids--at least during "happy hour."
