What I’d Do To Improve the Place:

On the normal nights, add some live music to the mix. The decor of the place is perfect for an acoustic combo to liven things up.

Visit Lucy's on the Web

You might be asking yourself how a hat shop made it to the Phillytown.com pages. No, we haven't lost our minds, Lucy's Hat Shop is actually a bar located in the Olde City area of Philly.

Like most bar's in Olde City, Lucy's contains a small dining area in the front of the establishment. Lucy's is nice since it overlooks the Market Street sidewalk. If you're fortunate to grab a table near the window, you can entertain yourself by watching life go by on one of the busiest streets in the city. The dining area contains about 15 tables and chairs complete with table cloths. Not your ordinary bar food here, Lucy's menu features American dishes with a European flair.

The interior decor has an 19th Century bordello look about it. There are drapes hanging on the walls and suspended in mid-air separating the dining room from the bar area. Beyond the dining room, there is a hearth, three couches and a coffee table. Two of the couches are  bright red and Victorian in style. Opposite the hearth, is the bar.

The bar contains about 8 beers on tap, the usual suspects (Guinness, Bass, Heineken, etc) are represented here. The bar is a nice maple wood structure, long enough to handle 15 patrons. Continuing farther into Lucy's, there are a couple of booths and tables against the right wall and a pool table in the very back of the establishment.

I've stopped in on Lucy's on a Saturday night, and the scene is more of a laid-back, college hang-out. There is no cover charge and parking lots are located within a one block radius. If you're in the Olde City area, stop in to Lucy's and give them a try. Their close proximity to other Olde City bars, makes them a definite stop on any crawl.

PROS:

Interior decorating a plus.

Great location in Olde City.

The brews don't disappoint.

CONS:

One pool table.

No other entertainment for the booze swilling crowd.
