What I’d Do To Improve the Place: Have steroid-pumped troglodytes turn away the people that aren’t hip—like me. If you’re going to cater to pretentious people, might as well go all the way. |

I would definitely classify the Continental as a Philadelphia landmark. You can not miss the Silver diner as you are coming down either Market or 2nd Streets. Before I knew
what the Continental was, I use to drive by and wonder why all those people would be standing in line to go to a diner—the food must really be good. Then I found out that the Continental was a martini bar and then things changed.
I really like the idea how it is located in the old diner building. It gives it a taste of "old school" and adds to the thrill of taking in old school with the large martini selection. The place may be money, but the people definitely aren’t because they all think that they are the bomb. It seems that the de facto dress code involves wearing
tons of black in European fashion. I went in there with a blue shirt and khakis and I received that snotty, “what are you doing here” look. Cela est la vie. If they get off on life being that way, let
them. They are just not my type of people. I do not wait outside a place to get in just because it’s the place to be. If you are going to the Continental be
prepared to wait. The first room that you enter in the diner and around back is the another room with a bar. The Continental has a great selection of martinis, but they are quite pricey. If you are looking for beer, then stay clear of the Continental.
